About the event
Figure Drawing Basics is a structured studio course designed for teen artists who want to strengthen their observational drawing skills and learn the foundations of drawing the human figure. Through guided instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, students will build confidence in understanding proportion, movement, and body structure in a supportive studio environment.
Throughout the course, students will work from clothed models and reference images while learning how artists observe and simplify the human form. Lessons focus on breaking complex shapes into manageable forms and understanding how body proportions, posture, and movement work together within a drawing.
Students will explore foundational figure drawing concepts including:
gesture drawing and line of action
proportion and body measurement techniques
basic anatomy and body landmarks
