About the event
Foundations of Drawing is a structured studio course designed for teen artists who want to strengthen their technical drawing skills through focused instruction, guided practice, and hands-on studio projects. This course helps students build confidence in drawing while developing a stronger understanding of how artists observe and translate the world around them onto paper.
Throughout the workshop, students will explore essential drawing concepts including proportion, line quality, value, form, perspective, composition, and observational accuracy. Lessons are designed to build skills progressively through demonstrations, guided exercises, and individualized support in a focused studio environment.
Students will practice foundational drawing techniques such as:
contour and observational drawing
shading and value development
blending and cross-hatching
