Around the World | Ages 5–10

A creative art and culture class where students explore a new country each month.

1 h50th Street

Service Description

“Around the World” is an immersive art and culture experience designed for ages 5–10. Each month, students “travel” to a different country where they explore language, landmarks, traditions, history, and visual art through guided, hands-on studio projects. Across the year, students will visit a variety of countries including Japan, Italy, Mexico, Egypt, France, Brazil, India, Australia, Kenya, and the United States. Each destination is used as inspiration for creative projects that help children understand how people around the world express culture and identity through art. Students will paint, draw, build, and craft while learning age-appropriate cultural and historical context in a fun and engaging way. The goal of the class is to build curiosity, creativity, and global awareness through meaningful, hands-on making. Each month focuses on a new country and follows a simple weekly rhythm: Week 1: Introduction to the country (map, culture, language basics, landmarks) Week 2: Art style or technique inspired by that country Week 3: Cultural or historical project based on traditions or symbols Week 4: Final mixed-media project that brings the month’s learning together For example, during Japan Month, students may create origami animals, paint cherry blossoms in watercolor, explore simple Japanese words and symbols, and finish with a mixed-media “travel postcard” project inspired by Japanese culture and landscapes. This class meets twice weekly with identical instruction: Mondays 9:00–10:00 AM Thursdays 4:00–5:00 PM Families may choose whichever day works best, as both sessions follow the same monthly curriculum.
